One of the injured victims of the vehicle accident on Highway 273 last Thursday has been identified by local officials.
According to the initial investigation, a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander was driven by 37-year-old Connie Lerma. As Lerma drove through the southbound lanes of Highway 273, she veered off the roadway and ended up in the barrow ditch. The Uplander then overturned and landed in a pasture near the roadway. An unrestrained passenger, identified only as an 11-year-old Pampa boy, was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. He was pronounced deceased by emergency crews. Meanwhile, Lerma and another 12-year-old passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries and were rushed to Pampa Regional Medical Center for treatment. Their condition was not immediately released.
Gray County police officials have yet to determine what caused Lerma to go off the roadway. An investigation is underway.
