Granite Shoals – Bicyclist Struck by a Car on Ranch Road 1431

A fatal bicycle collision on Farm to Market Road 1431 resulted in the death of one person, Thursday morning.
Initial investigation reveals that the incident occurred in the 8400 block of Farm to Market Road 143, not too far from Quarry Park in Granite Shoals. A bicyclist had been traveling along the eastbound lane of the highway when he was struck by a commercial trailer being towed by a pickup truck. The impact of the crash thrown the rider off his bike, leaving him with fatal injuries. When first responders arrived at the scene, they performed CPR on the victim but to no avail. He was pronounced dead by Burnet County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Roxanne Nelson.
No identification was released pending notification of the victim’s next of kin.
Police said the victim was struck “by a part of the trailer.” Further details will be disclosed soon once the investigation has been completed.
