Goodnight – Victim of Rear-End Collision on US 287 Identified

The Clarendon woman who died after a deadly car accident on US 287 near Goodnight has been identified by law enforcement officials, a local news source said.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a tractor-trailer had been traveling along the eastbound lane of US 287 when, for reasons that had not been determined, it rear-ended a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The impact sent the SUV spinning and came to rest in the center median. A passenger of the SUV, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle as it overturns a number of times. She was pronounced deceased and was later identified as 60-year-old Tojuanna Pierce of Clarendon.
The SUV driver sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Northwest Texas Hospital where he was listed in stable condition. His identification was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The Goodnight Police Department is determining liability.
