Goodnight – 1 Killed in a Rear-End Collision on US 287

At least one person was killed after a fatal vehicle accident on US 287 near Goodnight.
Initial reports show that the crash happened on US 287 in an unspecified time in the afternoon of September 11th. According to officers who responded to the scene, a tractor-trailer had been traveling along the eastbound lane of the highway when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, it crashed into a sport utility vehicle. The force of the impact caused the SUV to lose control, struck the far slope of the median, and spun a number of times. It came to rest in the center median.
A passenger in the SUV was ejected in the process. He was pronounced deceased by emergency crews. Meanwhile, the SUV driver was rushed to Northwest Texas Hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The extent of his injuries was not immediately disclosed.
No identification was released at this time.
