Galveston – Truck vs Bicycle Accident on Highway 87

A male suffered from serious injuries after getting hit by a truck on State Highway 87 near 51st Street in Galveston.
Just before 5:00 a.m., a male bicyclist was riding along SH 87 when he was hit by a passing Mack truck. The force of the impact left the victim with serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital for further medical attention. His identification has not yet been released at this time.
Based on the initial investigation, the victim stole the bicycle and was being chased by the owner when the accident happened. It was not confirmed if the victim was taken into custody after receiving treatment from the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation as of this writing.
