HOUSTON, TX — Four people died early Friday after a vehicle struck an Uber driver and a tree near George Bush Intercontinental Airport in north Houston, reports Click2Houston.
Houston Police said the fatal accident occurred in the 6600 block of Will Clayton Parkway at about 12:30 a.m.
An early investigation indicates an Uber driver was traveling toward the airport when it was hit by a speeding sedan. The sedan then ran off the roadway and struck a tree before bursting into flames.
Houston Fire Department crews arrived to find the four victims inside the vehicle, with one occupant partially ejected. All four were pronounced deceased at the scene.
All westbound traffic from U.S. Highway 59 was diverted from the scene. Motorists were asked to take alternate routes as crews responded to the area.
