Fort Worth — Woman Injured While Checking Vehicle for Damage

Posted on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 at 2:15 am

Around 4:35 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019, a woman was outside on Interstate 20, near the Oak Grove Road exit, checking her vehicle for damage after it suffered a collision earlier, when she was hit by another vehicle.

Fort Worth police call logs showed that the wrecks happened in the 2100 block of westbound Interstate 20, and the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after she was hit. Two other occupants in the vehicle that was hit were treated at the scene.

It was later reported that the woman taken to the hospital suffered a broken leg in the wreck.

Car accidents are a serious problem in this day and age, and yet they still happen quite often. According to the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), car accidents happen almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, a car accident occurs that results in death. So that is roughly about 6 million car accidents every year and 90 people dying in car accidents every day in the U.S. alone.

The three common causes of car accidents are DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), speeding, and driving while distracted. Whatever was the case for this particular vehicular accident, it is still unfortunate to hear that the woman was critically injured in the accident.

If anyone finds themselves in a car accident, or if anyone has a loved one who is involved in an accident, never lose hope because help will always be available for them.
