Fort Stockton – Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Interstate 10

A fatal pedestrian collision caused the death of one person on Interstate 10, east of Fort Stockton, a local news source reported.
According to initial reports, a vehicle had been traveling along the eastbound lane of I-10, near mile marker 256 when, for reasons that had not been determined, it struck a pedestrian who was on the roadway. The vehicle continued on, went off the roadway, and landed on a ditch. Its driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Pecos County Memorial Hospital with unknown condition. He was later identified as 72-year-old Richard Lynn.
Meanwhile, the pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries from the force of the impact. He was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene. Authorities later identified the victim as Gerald P. Harris, 56.
No other details are available as the investigation is still in progress.
