HOUSTON, TX — Five people, including three children, were hospitalized Wednesday night after a two-vehicle collision in southwest Houston’s Sharpstown area, reports NTV Houston.

The accident occurred on a stretch of South Gessner Road at the U.S. 59 feeder road at approximately 10:15 p.m.

Witnesses told Houston Police that a male driver in a pickup truck ran a red light moments before it T-boned an SUV. The impact of the crash caused the SUV to roll onto its side and become pinned against a traffic pole.

Three child passengers in the SUV were assisted out of the wrecked SUV by deputies, while Houston Fire Department crews worked to extricate the female driver.

All five occupants between both vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to area trauma centers.

As of this writing, authorities have not released any updates regarding pending charges or citations.
