Elderly woman killed in Southwest Freeway crash

HOUSTON, TX – An elderly woman was killed after her vehicle flew off an overpass in downtown Houston on Wednesday afternoon.

According to KTRK, the crash occurred when one vehicle ran the red light at the intersection of Hamilton Street and Pierce Street.

One of the vehicles ran up onto the southwest Freeway and landed in an embankment. The driver of that vehicle, an elderly woman, was rushed to the hospital, where she died a short time later.

Another driver was also hospitalized in unknown condition.
