HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A 90-year-old woman died last Friday after a two-vehicle collision that injured three others near Pasadena’s Brookwood neighborhood, according to the Houston Police Department.
The fatal accident occurred in the 16500 block of Middlebrook Drive on April 8, at around 12:35 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a white Kia Optima was heading southbound on the road when a gray Chevrolet Impala failed to yield to the Kia’s right of way. The Impala proceeded to turn left from Middlebrook Drive onto Hickory Knoll Drive, causing the Kia to hit the back of the Impala. The impact of the crash sent the Impala spinning off the roadway
Houston Fire medics rushed the Impala’s elderly female passenger to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the Impala suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to the hospital.
Two occupants in the Kia, the male driver and his passenger, were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities have since determined neither driver was impaired during the crash, but believe the driver of the Kia may have been speeding at the time.
As of this writing, no charges have been filed. HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate the crash.
