The El Paso police officials have released the name of the victims who died in a car accident on Bowdoin Street, a local news source says.
They were identified as 16-year-old Penelope Jauregui and 30-year-old Hugo Davalos. According to reports, Jauregui was a student at Eastlake High School.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the fatal crash occurred just before 10:00 p.m. last Wednesday night. A Hyundai Veloster was traveling along the southbound lane of Horizon Avenue when it failed to stop at the intersection near Bowdoin Drive on a red light. The Hyundai then crashed into a Nissan Sentra that was traveling along the eastbound lanes of Bowdoin.
Several people, including Jauregui and Davalos, sustained injuries from the collision. Unfortunately, Jauregui and Davalos passed away as a result of the life-threatening injuries they sustained last Thursday.
The crash remains under investigation.
