El Paso – Sydney Caldwell ID’d Victim of North Loop Crash

The pedestrian who died after getting struck by a vehicle on North Loop in El Paso has been named by local authorities, reports said.
At around 4:00 p.m., an auto versus pedestrian collision was reported at the intersection of Loop 375 and Americas Avenue. When responding officers arrived at the scene, they found a man covered with a sheet and a mangled wheelchair near a stopped semi-truck. Police believed that the semi was attempting to make a turn when it struck the victim. The impact of the crash killed the pedestrian on the scene. He was later identified as Sydney Caldwell who appeared to be a disabled veteran who had been homeless for years. Workers nearby said he was a regular at the said cross street.
Authorities did not release any information about the driver of the car.
An investigation is underway.
