A 26-year-old man died following a fatal motorcycle accident on Interstate 10 East, Friday midnight.
Just before 1:00 a.m., El Paso police responded to I-10 East near Raynolds Street after receiving a call reporting a collision. According to initial reports, a 2007 Honda motorcycle was seen traveling along the highway when it slammed into the center median, for yet unknown reasons. The rider was ejected from his motorcycle upon impact. As he was trying to move towards the safer side of the road, a passing 2010 Nissan Altima then struck him. He died from the injuries sustained from the crash.
The motorcycle continued traveling without Vega for over half a mile and ended up on the Raynolds off-ramp, officials said.
Authorities said that speed and alcohol may have a played a role in the fatal accident. The investigation is still in progress.
Drunk driving in Texas commonly result in a serious injury and sometimes, death. While accidents are fortuitous events that cannot be foreseen, they can be prevented if only drivers had simply put their complete attention on the road and taken their responsibility as drivers more seriously. This is why, despite conscious efforts by government to combat the increasing number of fatalities and injuries every year, crashes due to negligence is still on the rise.
While it can be difficult to remain calm in a situation like this, it is important to know that you can be entitled to compensation and claims following a collision. If you or your loved one has been injured in a car accident caused by a negligent party or a driver under the influence of alcohol, you may have a right to a fair compensation for the trauma you experienced and the injuries you have suffered.
