El Paso – Motorcycle Accident on Montana Avenue

A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a vehicle on Montana Avenue, Sunday afternoon.
A motorcycle was traveling near the intersection of Montana Ave near Lee Trevino Drive when, for yet unknown reasons, it stalled out after the light at the intersection signaled to go. A Nissan Altima–heading west in the center lane–was not able to avoid the motorcycle and struck it. The operator of the motorcycle, identified only as a Chaparral man, died from the injuries he sustained in the crash. His identification was not released pending notification of his next of kin.
The El Paso police arrived at the scene to determine the cause of the accident. They believe that the motorcyclist encountered a mechanical problem which prompted him to stop.
The westbound lanes at Montana Avenue and northbound lanes at Lee Trevino were closed Sunday, reopening just before 10 p.m.
