El Paso – Drunk Driving Crash on Junction Avenue

A single car accident on Junction Avenue near Kenworthy Street caused the death of a woman, according to a local news soruce.

At around 1:00 a.m., police responded to the 4700 block of Junction Avenue to assist in a car accident involving a speeding SUV. According to police, an SUV was seen traveling at an unsafe speed when it crashed into a home nearby. A woman living in the said home was struck and suffered from serious injuries. She was taken to University Medical Center where she was declared deceased by medical personnel. Authorities later identified the victim as 87-year-old Ruriko Denison.

The driver of the SUV was identified as 41-year-old Margaret Cantu. She was taken into custody and charged for intoxication assault and speeding.

An investigation is underway.
