Edinburg- Major collision on Jasmine and Monte Cristo roads

A fatal crash involving multiple vehicles killed two people on Jasmine Road and Monte Cristo roads, reports say.

Authorities were called onto the scene following a call at around 5:20 p.m. Sunday. According to the report, a Ford F250 pickup truck was traveling along the highway when, for yet unknown reasons, it veered into opposing lanes where it struck a Hidalgo County EMS ambulance.

The force of impact killed the driver of the EMS Ambulance and the ambulance patient. The driver was identified as Felipe Huerta Jr., 32, while the patient was identified as Delia Cortines, 68. Another passenger in the ambulance was also injured and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident remains unknown as the investigation is still in progress.
