HOUSTON, TX – A woman lost her an arm and an eye early this morning in a weather-related crash with an 18-wheeler truck, according to KPRC2.
The crash occurred just before 4 a.m. near 5420 South Sam Houston Parkway East, close to Cullen Boulevard.
The accident happened when the victim, a woman in her mid-40s, missed her turn while driving on the parkway. She over-corrected her sedan and slid beneath an H-E-B trailer. While the driver came to a stop, the wet roads caused the truck to drag the victim’s vehicle for about 20 feet.
The driver of the 18-wheeler called 911 and provided emergency aid to the victim. She was transported unresponsive to the hospital and lost her left eye and her left arm.
The 18-wheeler’s driver was not injured in the accident.
As of 7 a.m. this morning, the victim was responsive.
Authorities concluded that the crash was a result of weather conditions.
