Early-morning crash between car and 18-wheeler closes southbound I-45

HOUSTON, TX – Authorities responded to a major car crash involving an 18-wheeler early this morning on I-45, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened on southbound I-45 S and Richie Road at about 2:20 a.m., when a car and an 18-wheeler truck collided.

All southbound lanes of traffic were closed as authorities worked the collision, with traffic diverted meanwhile onto the feeder road.

It is unclear at this point what caused the crash or if anyone was injured in the crash.
