HOUSTON, TX — A DUI suspect was arrested early Monday morning after striking a HPD vehicle on the North Freeway near Houston’s Home Acres area, reports ABC13 Houston.
Houston Police Department said incident took place at the West Little York intersection shortly after 2:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates an officer had just finished an investigation of another crash when his cruiser was rear-ended by a tan pickup truck while he waited at a light. The officer attempted to follow the pickup as it sped away, but he later lost sight of the vehicle.
A witness was able to follow the suspect and later alert authorities to their location, leading to an arrest. Authorities said the fleeing driver was suspected of impairment and now faces likely charges of DUI and failure to stop.
No injuries to the officer or anyone else were reported.
