Driver kills pedestrian after attempting to beat red light on Westheimer

HOUSTON, TX – A driver killed a pedestrian after attempting to beat a red light on Westheimer Road this morning, according to KHOU 11.
The driver ran a red light at the intersection of Westheimer and Fountain View, striking a pedestrian using a marked crosswalk. The impact of the crash was so great that the victim was thrown over 100 feet into the air, according to authorities.
The suspect fled the scene but was later tracked down by officers and arrested. Officers say the suspect showed obvious signs of intoxication and is now facing a possible intoxication manslaughter charge, in addition to failing to stop and render aid.
