Driver hit and killed by vehicle while helping animal on the Southwest Freeway

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – A driver was tragically hit and killed by a vehicle while helping an animal on the Southwest Freeway on Wednesday morning, KHOU 11 reports.

According to authorities, the driver stopped in the main lanes of the Southwest Freeway near Reading after hitting an animal. Shortly after getting out of his car, he was hit by a passing big rig truck. His identity has not been released.

The area was shut down as police investigated the crash.
