Driver dies after single-vehicle wreck on Pagewood Ln in west Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 67-year-old man was fatally injured Monday afternoon when he suffered a medical episode and crashed off a road in Houston’s Mid-West area, according to Houston Police Department.
The accident occurred in the 9300 block of Pagewood Lane at around 12:20 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows the man was behind the wheel of a silver Toyota Camry heading westbound when he experienced a medical emergency. He failed to maintain a single lane, causing the Toyota to drift to the left and crash into a flower bed on the street’s north side.
Houston Fire medics rushed the victim to HCA Houston Healthcare West, where he later died from his injuries. Doctors have since come to believe he went into cardiac arrest moments before the collision.
An investigation by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division remains ongoing.
