HOUSTON, TX — A 31-year-old woman was fatally injured Sunday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash after running a red light in northwest Houston’s Langwood area, reports Houston Police Department.
HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the collision occurred in the 3900 block of Bingle Road, near Hempstead Road, at around 1:05 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was behind the wheel of a silver Nissan Altima going eastbound on Hempstead Road when she failed to stop at a red light at the Bingle Road intersection. As the Nissan proceeded, it was hit by a burgundy Acura TL going northbound on Bingle Road that was traveling on a green light. The impact of the crash sent the Acura into a green Toyota Highlander also going northbound on Bingle. The Nissan collided with a green Ford F-150 pickup truck sitting in Hempstead Road’s left-turn lane.
The driver of the Nissan was critically injured and rushed to Memorial Herman Greater Heights Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
No other serious injuries were reported in the event.
An investigation remains underway.
