Driver dies after medical emergency, crash off I-45 in Oak Ridge North

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — A man in his 50s died Tuesday morning after crashing his vehicle during a medical emergency off Interstate 45 in Oak Ridge North, according to Montgomery County Police Reporter.
The events unfolded in the parking lot of Whiskey Cake Restaurant, at Woodson Road and the I-45 service road, shortly before 10:15 a.m.
Oak Ridge Police said that prior to the crash, the male driver had called a family member with complaint of chest pain and said he was en route to a hospital.
A report from South Montgomery County Fire said the man had turned into the parking lot before he clipped a pickup truck and slammed into a light pole.
Authorities indicated the victim died at the scene of the crash.
At this time, the man’s medical issue is believed to have caused the crash, but an investigation remains ongoing.
