HOUSTON, TX — A man was killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle collision in north Houston’s Mooney Heights area, reports the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the fatal crash happened in the 4300 block of Mooney Road at about 5:40 p.m.
Investigators believe the man was behind the wheel of a black 2012 Nissan Altima going eastbound when tried to pass a slower vehicle on the right side. The driver then lost control and drove off the roadway and onto a nearby grassy area. His vehicle then hit the rear-right of an eastbound 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck. The Altima was sent into a ditch off the south side roadway and hit a concrete driveway.
The driver of the Altima was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the fatal incident.
