Driver dies after head-on crash with HCSO deputy in NW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 44-year-old man died Tuesday night after his car collided head-on with a HCSO patrol vehicle near New Quest Town Center in northwest Houston, according to Click2Houston.
The accident occurred on intersection of Jones Road and Millridge North Drive shortly before 10:10 p.m.
An early investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office indicates the man was behind the wheel of a Nissan Altima on Jones Road when he tried to make a left turn. Moments later, he collided head-on with a northbound police cruiser that was traveling in the outside lane.
Medics arrived and applied life-saving measures to the causing driver before rushing him to a local hospital in critical condition. The man later died from his injuries, confirmed the HCSO.
The deputy, a 31-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries but has since been released.
An investigation remains ongoing.
