Driver dies after fiery crash with 18-wheeler on IH-69 in SW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Friday morning after his sports car rear-ended an 18-wheeler on the Southwest Freeway in Houston, according to FOX29.

The fatal accident occurred on the outbound lanes of the freeway near West Bellfort Avenue at around 4:30 a.m.

An early investigation by Houston Police indicates the man was speeding southbound when he made a lane change and veered into the back of the 18-wheeler.

Authorities said the man was trapped in the wrecked car when it burst into flames. He was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the big rig remained after the crash and cooperated with police. He was not reported injured in the event.

An investigation remains underway.
