Driver dies after crashing into tree off N Loop E Fwy in NE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man was killed early Sunday morning after a single-vehicle collision along the North Loop East Freeway in northeast Houston, reports Houston Police Department.

The crash happened in the 1500 block of the eastbound freeway’s service road at around 4:45 a.m.

An initial investigation shows the victim was behind the wheel of a gray Chevrolet Silverado going eastbound when he veered the vehicle off the roadway and into a tree in the median. Shortly after, the vehicle caught fire.

Authorities confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

An investigation by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division remains ongoing.
