Driver dies after crashing into tree near west Houston residence

HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Saturday morning after a fiery single-vehicle accident near a residence in west Houston’s Briarforest area, according to News 4 San Antonio.

Houston Police Department said officers responded to the scene on North Wilcrest Drive at around 3:00 a.m.

An early investigation indicates a male driver was heading southbound on the road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle. The car spun and slammed into a large tree in the front yard of a nearby home, where it burst into flames.

Responding officers discovered the driver deceased at the site.

No other injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.

At this time, authorities have not disclosed a possible cause of the crash.
