Driver dies after car goes into ditch off S Wayside Dr in Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A woman died early Friday after a single-vehicle accident on South Wayside Drive in southeast Houston, according to NTV Houston.

Houston Police said the woman was driving a yellow Mustang when, for reasons still being investigated, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and entered a ditch. Moments later, it struck a metal culvert pipe.

A passerby alerted authorities after spotting the wreckage in the ditch.

It was not immediately clear whether the female driver died at the scene or at a hospital.

An investigation was underway, but speed is believed to have contributed to the fatal crash.
