Driver critically injured in crash with 18-wheeler near Missouri City

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A woman was critically hurt early Tuesday morning when her car collided with an 18-wheeler after running a red light near Missouri City, reports FOX29.

The accident occurred at the intersection of South Main Street (U.S. Highway 90 Alternate) and South Sam Houston Parkway West at about 1:00 a.m.

According to Houston Police, the woman failed to stop at a red light and causing her car to strike and become partially wedged underneath the big rig.

Fire crews worked for 45 minutes to extricate the woman from her car before rushing her to a nearby hospital. Authorities said the victim suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not reported injured.

No further updates have been released at this time.
