Driver arrested, charged after fatal wrong-way crash in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 26-year-old woman has been charged after a collision early Sunday that killed two people on the North Freeway in Houston’s Hidden Valley area, reports Houston Police Department.
The multi-vehicle accident occurred in the 1400 block of the North Freeway at approximately 12:35 a.m.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division said the woman was driving a black Dodge Charger northbound in the southbound lanes when she struck two southbound vehicles, a black Kia Rio and a gray Kia Soul.
A 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman in the Kia Rio were pronounced deceased at the scene, according to authorities.
Both the causing driver and the driver of the Kia Soul were transported to a nearby hospital injuries considered non-life-threatening.
Responding officers said the wrong-way driver exhibited signs of impairment at the scene. She was taken into custody and now faces two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the 228th State District Court.
