Dimmit County – One Killed in Two-Car Crash on Hwy 83

A driver was pronounced deceased after getting into a collision with another car on Highway 83 in Asherton, south of Carrizo Springs.

According to the released, the incident took place on Highway 83 which involved a 2013 GMC Sierra and a tanker trailer. The Sierra had been traveling along the highway when it failed to slow down on time and crashed into the backside of the tanker trailer. The force of the impact left the Sierra driver with critical injuries. He was pronounced deceased by emergency crews following the crash. His passenger was transported in a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition. No identification has been released at this time.

Authorities did not provide information about the occupants in the tanker trailer.

The crash remains under investigation.
