Deputy injured after crash with allegedly intoxicated driver in NW Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A man who had five reported warrants out for his arrest was taken into custody after colliding with a Harris County Constable’s deputy today.
According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, the accident happened in the 18900 block of State Highway 249, in the northwest Houston neighborhood of Willowbrook.
32-year-old Tomas Tovar allegedly struck the vehicle of a Constable’s deputy, which was pulled onto the shoulder of the roadway as the officer monitored traffic.
The deputy was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, and is expected to be okay.
Tovar was reportedly showing multiple signs of intoxication, and after taking a field sobriety test, was found to be driving while intoxicated.
Authorities stated Tovar had five open warrants out for his arrest.
He was taken to the Harris County Jail on a charge of driving while intoxicated. His bond has been set at $100.
