Deputy and passenger injured after suspected DUI collision in Channelview

CHANNELVIEW, TX – Two people, including a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy, were injured after a collision involving a suspected intoxicated driver on the East Freeway late last night.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened near STS Tank Leasing, located at 16915 E Freeway Service Road, just before midnight, as a deputy was attempting to pull over a person operating a U-Haul truck.
District 3 deputy was attempting to stop a uhaul when struck by a car. Deputy had his emergency equipment activated when struck. The deputy’s vehicle was struck from behind by a second driver, who is suspected of having been under the influence.
The deputy and the passenger in the second vehicle, a white BMW sedan, sustained non-critical injuries in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
