Del Valle – Following Vehicle Accident on Highway 71

The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation about a vehicle accident that killed a 20-year-old man on Texas Highway 71, Sunday.
According to initial reports, the incident took place at the 5000 block of State Highway 71 (also known as Texas Highway 71) at around 10:00 a.m. A vehicle, operated by 20-year-old Joseph Diaz, was heading west on the highway when it crashed into another car near the intersection of Richards Drive. Two occupants in the second vehicle sustained fatal injuries and were both pronounced deceased at the scene. They were identified as 49-year-old Jose Velazquez and 45-year-old Joanne Menchaca.
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. His condition remains unclear at this time.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
