Decatur – Decatur Man Died in Multi-Car Collision on FM 51

A 69-year-old man passed away after getting involved in a fatal three-vehicle crash on Farm to Market 51 Road near County Road 2224 north of Decatur, Saturday.
Just before 4:00 p.m., a 2001 Ford F-350 was traveling along the southbound lane of FM 51 when it drifted onto the opposing lanes and collided head on with a northbound 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The impact caused both vehicles to left the roadway, spinning. A scrap metal from one of the trucks was then struck by a passing 2003 GMC Yukon that was heading north.
The driver of the F-350 suffered from serious injuries. He was rushed to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment. Unfortunately, the driver of the F-150 was pronounced dead at the scene. They were only identified as 61-year-old Paradise man and 69-year-old Decatur man, respectively.
None of the occupants in the GMC Yukon was hurt.
Decatur firefighters and Wise County medics responded to the accident.
An investigation is underway.
