Dawson County – Bonnie Byrom Died Following a Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 349

An 85-year-old woman was pronounced deceased after a two-vehicle accident on Highway 349, 1.5 miles southeast of Lamesa.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a vehicle was heading east on Hwy 349 when it ran a red light while attempting to make a left turn towards Highway 87. While doing so, it crashed into another vehicle driven by 19-year-old Alejandro Vasquez of Lamesa. Fortunately, Vasquez was not injured. Meanwhile, the driver who ignored a red light was taken to Lamesa’s Medical Arts Hospital where she later died. She was identified as 85-year-old Bonnie L. Byrom of Midland.
No one else was injured.
It was not confirmed if charges are expected to be filed against the driver at fault. The investigation is underway.
