The 46-year-old man who died in a deadly traffic accident on Interstate 35 has been identified by Dallas law enforcement officials.
According to reports, the fatality was identified as Dominic Cook, 46.
Police said that Cook was driving a tow truck along the center lane of I-35E when, for reasons that had not been determined, it rear-ended a Nissan Altima as it approaches Empire Central Drive, early Monday morning. The impact of the collision pushed the Nissan into the cement wall, injuring its driver in the process. The tow truck then crashed through a guardrail and struck a tree in a parking lot.
Cook died as a result of the crash. The Nissan driver, identified only as a 24-year-old female, was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital for treatment. The extent of her injuries was not immediately disclosed.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
We offer our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased victim. May God grant you strength to go through this difficult time in your life. We believe that the Dallas Police will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
In the United States, Texas is one of the leading states in the number of traffic collisions involving fatalities. In fact, in 2015 alone, the state recorded more than 1,300 deaths caused by reckless drivers. Despite the government’s aggressive efforts to keep these cases down, Texas remains the worst state in the country for alcohol-involved car crashes.
