Dallas — School Bus Crash Injures Driver and 9 Students

Posted on Thursday, January 17th, 2019 at 7:28 pm

A collision involving as many as 4 vehicles occurred in Dallas at about 4 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019.

According to initial reports, about 4 vehicles crashed into one another on Interstate 30 near Loop 12, which then caused one of the cars and a school bus carrying 10 students from Bishop Dunne Catholic School to roll onto their sides and into a roadside ditch. The driver of the bus and 9 students were injured in the process and were immediately taken to hospitals. Jason Evans, the Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman, says that none of the injuries seemed to be life-threatening.

Only one student inside the bus was unscathed and was released to his parents. Aside from the 10 injured individuals, no other injuries were reported.

It is good to hear that no one died in this collision even though it seemed dire at first, with about 4 vehicles crashing into one another on a busy roadway. However, there are many victims who aren’t as lucky. According to the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), car accidents happen almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, a car accident occurs that results in death. This can be estimated to about 6 million car accidents every year and about 90 deaths as a result to car accidents every day in the U.S. alone.

NHTSA also reports that about 15% of car accidents happen near intersections while a whopping 85% happen on the open road. This seemed to be the case for this particular vehicular accident.

With the statistics showing a horrible picture of how frequent car accidents are and how deadly they can be, it is important that we should be careful next time we are on the road because no one deserves to lose their life or have a loved one lose theirs just because of an accident.

That said, if you are a victim of a car accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, please don’t hesitate to ask for help. The police will always be there for you, but more than that, car accident attorneys are always willing to help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.
