The driver who died in a fatal solo vehicle collision on State Highway 7 has been named by Houston law enforcement officials.

He was identified as 33-year-old Jarrett Perkins, a resident from Odessa, TX.

Just after 7:00 p.m., a Nissan pickup truck was seen traveling along the eastbound lane of SH 7, eleven miles east of Crockett. For yet unknown reasons, the pickup veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The impact of the crash ejected the driver, Jarret Perkins, off the truck. It then burst into flames. Police said Perkins attempted to overcorrect the truck but ended up losing control over it.

Perkins was pronounced deceased at the scene. He had no passengers during the time of the crash.

The Houston Police Department was also requested at the scene to determine the reason why Perkins lost control of the car.
