Corpus Christi- Wrong way collision on Highway 358

One vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the highway caused a fatal accident on South Padre Island Drive, near Airline Road.
According to preliminary reports, the incident took place at the 6000 block of South Padre Island Drive. At around 5:09 a.m., authorities were called onto the scene following a call reporting a collision. A grey SUV was reportedly heading the wrong way when it crashed into another SUV.
The force impact wrecked the second vehicle, trapping a man who was identified only as a 71-year-old Hispanic man. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. It remains unknown if the three other occupants of the SUV have been injured.
The driver of the wrong-way SUV died at the scene of the crash. His identification is yet to be released.
The Corpus Christi Police Department were requested at the scene to investigate the accident.
