Local authorities have identified the two victims who died in a car accident on South Staples Street, reports say.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, the crash took place at about 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of South Staples Street and Baldwin Boulevard. A vehicle was traveling along the area when it collided head-on with a four-occupant Corolla. Police said that the 19-year-old driver failed to yield the right of way which caused the collision. He was cited and then taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not released.

All occupants in the vehicle that was struck were rushed to a hospital with various injuries. Unfortunately, two of them later died after being treated. They were identified as 26-year-old Domingo Rivera and one-year-old Serena Nava.

Upon release from the hospital, the 28-year-old driver of the vehicle the child was riding in was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child.

We express our deepest condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased victim. May God grant you the strength you need to get through this difficult moment in your life. We strongly believe that authorities will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
