At least one person was killed following a pedestrian crash on South 7th Street, early Monday morning.

Just after 6:30 a.m., Copperas Cove local fire officials were asked to assist in a crash at the intersection of Urbantke Lane near South 7th St. According to initial reports, a vehicle was passing the roadway when it hit a pedestrian who was also along the roadway. Instead of providing assistance to the victim, the driver sped off and left the scene. Fortunately, he was later located by police officers and apprehended in relation to the incident.

Meanwhile, the injured party, identified only as a 32-year-old male pedestrian, sustained fatal injuries. He was later declared deceased at the scene.

No reports on the charges filed against the suspect.

The crash remains under investigation.
