One person was sent to a hospital with serious injuries after getting involved in a vehicle collision on US Highway 190 in Copperas Cove, Monday morning.
The said crash took place at around 6:30 a.m. near Interstate 14 bypass near Business 190. According to responding officers, a Hyundais sedan was traveling along the westbound lanes of the highway when, for reasons that had not been determined, it crossed into the opposing traffic on the long bridge. It then collided head-on with an 18-wheeler truck.
The driver of the sedan sustained “apparent severe injuries” as a result. He was immediately transported to the nearest hospital for treatment. His identification was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The Texas Department of Transportation temporary closed the highway to clear debris and repair damage caused by the crash.
We are deeply saddened for the family and loved ones of the injured victim. Our prayers and thoughts are with them. We strongly believe that the Copperas Cove Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
Texas is among the states in the US that have the most car accidents which involved injuries and fatalities every year. Some of the common factors contributing to the rising cases of collisions in the area include the worsening traffic situation, weather conditions, and poor driving habits.
Bad driving habits are the greatest cause of a fatal crash. It can be lethal to the person behind the wheel, as well as the drivers on the road. Drivers who do not use their signal to change lanes or those who do not secure their blind spots before shifting direction are more likely to be involved in an accident. Some of the most dangerous driving habits include speeding, unsafe lane change, tailgating, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you or someone you love has been a victim of a car accident with a negligent driver, you have a right to fair compensation for the trauma you experienced and the injuries you have suffered.
