Child dies after hit-and-run collision on Cullen Blvd in south Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 7-year-old girl was fatally injured Saturday evening when a car she was traveling in was T-boned by a hit-and-run driver in south Houston, reports ABC13.

The crash happened at Cullen Boulevard and Schurmier Road, in the Brunswick Lakes residential neighborhood.

Houston Police Department said a Dodge Dart was northbound on Cullen Boulevard when it was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck heading westbound on Schurmier Road. Authorities learned the pickup truck driver had failed to stop at a stop sign.

Medics rushed the young girl to Texas Medical Center in critical condition. On Monday, two days after the incident, she was pronounced deceased.

Authorities said the driver and a 7-year-old boy in the sedan were also injured, but no information has been disclosed regarding their condition.

The male driver and two passengers in the pickup truck fled the crash site and have not been publicly identified by police at this time.
