Channing – Woman Died Following Auto Collision on RM 1061

A head-on collision caused the death of one person on Ranch to Market Road 1061 in Channing, Friday.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred on RM 1061. A vehicle was seen traveling along the roadway when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, it veered into the opposing lanes and crashed head on with a Jeep. The impact of the collision seriously injured an occupant in the Jeep. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Two more occupants were sent to the hospital with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening.

No identification was released pending notification of the victims’ next of kin.

Channing law enforcement officials arrived at the scene to determine the reason that caused the first vehicle to cross lanes.

An investigation is underway.
