Center – 1 Airlifted Following a Pedestrian-Vehicle Collision on Highway 96

A man was sent to a hospital with serious injuries after a major crash on Highway 96 near a convenience store.
According to initial reports, the incident took place just before 12 midnight. Police said that a pedestrian, who was working on a construction project, was directing traffic when he was struck by an International Water Truck. The male worker was immediately taken to Nacogdoches Medical Center where he received initial medical attention. A few moments later, he was then airlifted to a hospital in Shreveport. His condition remains unknown at this time.
The driver has been identified as Joe Williamson, of Lufkin. Police say no charges were filed in the incident.
Center Police Department arrived at the scene to determine the exact details of the incident. The investigation is still in progress.
