Cement truck overturns, shuts down US-290 EB near Cypress

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A rollover wreck involving a cement truck last Saturday blocked all eastbound lanes on the Northwest Freeway near Cypress, reports KHOU11.

The collision occurred in the 29300 block of the freeway (US-290/SH-6) and was first reported the the Precinct 4 Constable Deputies at about 12:14 p.m.

It was unclear what led up to the incident or whether another vehicle was involved, but authorities said the cement truck rolled over and lost its load on the roadway.

A section of the eastbound freeway was closed as emergency crews responded to the area.

By 2:20 p.m., two lanes were reopened to traffic, though drivers were warned of delays.

No additional information has been provided as of this writing, and authorities have not confirmed any serious injuries.
